12-10

Today in class we took a test and it was hard to me because I did not study enough or prepare enough for it. I was the only one who didn't see what I got because I have a feeling I did not do well. It would have been easy if I studied more because I had all the notes needed.

12-1

Today we continued to watch the movie. It has been a while since we last watched it with the short break. What happened this time was salim kidnapped Latika and took her back to his boss where she was to be a dancer for him. While all this is happening Jamal is on his last question for all the money. The last question was about the Three Musketeers and Jamal flashed back to where he read the book and was slapped on the head with it in school. He also flashed back to where Jamal and salim just found Latika standing out in the rain and they said "That could be the third Musketeer." Then it ended, and Jamal did not know the answer. Salem then noticed that what he did to Latika was wrong so he let her go and sacrificed himself for his brother. Salim then gave Latika the keys to the car and his phone because he knew that was the only number Jamal remembered. Then Salim locked himself in the bathroom and threw all his money in the bathtub then layer on it all with his gun in his hand he then shot the boss, but there were three more guys that shot and killed him. Jamal did not know his brother was killed. Latina drove somewhere where she could watch Jamal. Jamal did not know the answer to the question so he phoned a friend. He called Salims phone because that's the only number he knew. It rung then Latika realized she left salims phone in the car. She ran back to get it then on the last ring she picked it up an said " Jamal it Latika" he was very surprised to hear her. But she did not know the answer, so he had to guess. He guessed A, and got it right. The last part I got to see was Jamal was sitting at the train station he looked over and saw Latika, and they walked toward each other. Then I had to leave for my game. I am going to finish this movie on my own time.

11-24

Today we continued to watch the movie "Slum Dog Millionaire." This movie keeps getting more and more interesting but it is still a very good movie. As the kids are older now Samal is getting involved with drugs and drinking and it is starting to control him. As the brothers found Latika Jamal gets kicked out of the apartment room they are staying in as salim puts a gun to Jamals head and keeps Latika to get money. Salem got hired by a new boss when he saw that salim pulled a gun out on people. Jamal then goes and gets a job at a place where he can find people so he looks up his brothers name and he calls him. His brother answered and said to come to him. Jamal went to find him and when he found him he punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground. Jamal then asked where Latika was and Salem said she was gone then Jamal went and followed Salem and he arrived at a gate where he made eye contact with Latika the guard asked why he was there and he said he was the dishwasher and they let him in where he talked to Latika in the kitchen then a guy came in and Latika quickly gave Jamal an apron. The guy then said to make him a sandwich so they made him a sandwich and he took a bite then spit it out. He kicked Jamal out and he said to Latika to meet him at the train station at 5. Then Jamal was waiting and waiting then he finally saw her she looked up at him and they were running for each other, Jamal looked behind Latika and saw three guys chasing after her as she tried to escape. They caught her and took her into a car Jamal was at the window and the guys pulled out a knife and cut her as Jamal watched, then they drove off.

Mumbai and Harford County

There are many differences between Mumbai and Harford County. I am thankful that I don't have to live in those conditions. We have bathrooms to use when all they have is an outhouse. We have a house with TVs and everything to interest us when their houses are the size of a small classroom. Their cops are corrupt and our cops support and protect us. Also their are fights between Hindu and Muslims when we don't have any kind of wars like that. In school teachers are allowed to hit the students when they would get arrested for doing that here. Also most people don't jump on trains to escape here. The streets here are bigger and not as crowded. We also have washing machines to wash our clothes in rather than a dirty river. We have clean water to drink instead of drinking the river water. We can shower in a shower instead of cleaning off in a river. They don't even get to wear shoes when we get clean clothes and shoes. The kids have to give fake tours and steal shoes and purses to get money.

Slumdog Milionare

Today we started the movie Slumdog Million are, I have already seen this movie but its been awhile so I only remember a few parts. This movie really shows how the slums in India are how people have to live. I feel bad for the kids in India that are young and don't have a safe place to stay. When they have to go to the bathroom they don't have toilets they go and it goes straight down and just makes a puddle. Also the people don't have police that protect them the police are almost against them. It must be hard to live in a situation like that.

11-17

When we first got to class we got our tests back. I was worried on how I did but when I went to look at my grade I was relieved when I saw an 80. I thought I did worse than an 80. Then we looked at a county map on which people call soda, pop or anything else. Then we closed out class talking about cultural geography.

10-16

Today we got our tests back and I got an 89. This test was easier than the first one in my opinion and I did better on this one. The better thing was that there was no essays that we had to write. I was prepared for the CIA website part of the test because I looked over where everything was the night before the test.

Friday, October 10, 2014

Test 2

This test was not as easy as the first test but there were no essays so I liked that. For the most part this was a easy test there were a few questions that I probably got wrong but ill take that. I should've studied more on the push and pull forces. I studied most on how to find my way around the world fact book and I studied a lot of the vocab.

Thursday, October 9, 2014

10-9

Today we went over what was going to be on the test. We will have 10 minutes  to go to the CIA website and answer questions about that. We need to know about the population pyramid and answer questions about countries with each population pyramid. At the end of class we watched a video on Little Hamsters eat little burritos.

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

10-8

Today all we did in class was go over a little about the test we have on Friday. Some questions were what is the life expectancy of the united states and we would have to find that out on the cia world Facebook. And now I know that that will be one part of the test, looking at countries and finding their life expectancies. Also we will need to know about the population triangles and the graphs. Here are the words we need to know.
life expectancy
  • crude birth rate (CBR)
  • crude death rate (CDR)
  • developing nations
  • developed nations
  • rate of natural increase (RNI)
  • net migration rate (NMR)
  • immigration
  • emigration
  • push forces
  • pull forces
  • total fertility rate (TFR)
  • Monday, October 6, 2014

    10-6

Today we spent the class looking on the CIA website again. We looked up facts about the United States because it is what affects us. Some notes I got are: We lead the world in internet hosts with 505 million. Second in the world in internet users with 205 million. We are first for the use of airways with 224,792 km. The U.S. has he most airports with 13,513. We have the most space covered by roads with 6,586,610 km.

    Saturday, October 4, 2014

    10-2

In todays class at the beginning Mr. Schick had to cover for another teacher while he was doing that we went to the CIA website to look at the countries population pyramids. Then we all got codes for Spotify. But of course with my luck my code didn't work. There were only a few peoples who codes didn't work. With Spotify we are helping them to interpret some music that relates to the classroom.

    10-3

In todays class we watched the newscast that I was in. Then we watched the newscast scene 1 that w
I saw a lot of times from TV Production. Then after we had a discussion about it. Then we had a discussion the whole class that went on and on about different things. We had conversations about everything from marijuana to the government. But it all related to Humans and human geography.

    Monday, September 29, 2014

    9-29

Today Mr. Schick missed class because he was at a wedding. Today we had to watch a video called population pyramids. Then after the video we had to answer 4 questions that I did on my other blog. The questions were hard to me. I also did not like the video so the questions were even harder to find since I would blank out.
    1. According to the Population Reference Bureau's "2013 World Population Data Sheet", 271 are born every minute, and 106 die every minute. That's a global net population increase of 165 per minute. This lesson was published on May 5th. What's the estimated global population increase exactly one week later (May 12th)?  A: over 10 million       B: 20,739      C: 1155    D: 1,663,200
    2. As a country slows in population growth, its pyramid shape will  A: become wider at the base and narrower at the top         B: be inverted          C: become more rectangular            D: bulge in the middle
    3. What does a Population Pyramid NOT give you information about?    A: birth rates         B: actual number of people        C: life expectancy         D: death rates
    4. Which continent would have the most fast-growth pyramids?   A: Africa         B:  Asia          C: North America         D: South America

    Friday, September 26, 2014

    9-26

Today in class we looked at everyone's facts on their country they chose. I chose ivory coast and an interesting fact I saw was 30% of children under the age of 5 are overweight. They are ranked 16 in the world! Another interesting fact is 31,200 people have died from HIV/Aids since 2012. Ranked 13 in the world for that category. Sub-Saharan African nations make the least money you can make. The lowest amount was $400 it was the Democratic Republic of Congo.

    Thursday, September 25, 2014

    9-25

Today in class we looked more into what fertility rate meant. First the people who didn't get their tests yesterday got their tests today. Then we talked more about fertility rate and even though the united states is under 2.1 it is still increasing because of immigrants entering our country. Then we talked about push factors and pull factors.

    Wednesday, September 24, 2014

    9-24

Today I arrived at class late. When I got to class I received my test I didn't even want to look at it I thought I didn't do too well. When I finally looked at it I thought wow I didn't do too bad. I got an 85 on the test and I did best on the essays. I thought the essays were going to be my worst part. I did best on the essay about globalization I got a surprising 10/10. Then we talked about the test and i got to fix the ones I got wrong and add info to the essays.

    Monday, September 22, 2014

    push and pull forces

Today in class we talked about net migration a little bit, we also talked about push and pull forces that would either push someone to leave a country or pull someone into the country. The last thing we got to talk was Fertility Rate. Here are some of my notes:
      Push forces

    • Civil war
    • environmental degradation
    • unemployment
    • religious persecution
    Pull forces
    • Better economic opportunity
    • better health services
    • religious freedom
    • political freedom
TFR: average number of children born per woman
for a population to remain the same, the TFR rate must be 2.1
    higher than 2.1: population rises
    lower than 2.1: population falls

    Saturday, September 20, 2014

    CIA

Today in class we visited the CIA website and looked at life expectancy and explored all about the website. I now found out that the U.S is in 42 for life expectancy with males having 78 years now instead of 77. Here are notes from class.
    • Crude birth rate: number of births per 1000 of the population
    • Crude death rate: number of deaths per 1000 of the population
    Rate of natural increase
    • Produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate
    • This give us the annual natural growth rate- in percentage form - for a country or region
    • Immigration- coming into a country - written as a positive number
    • emigration- leaving the country - written as negative number

    Wednesday, September 17, 2014

    Test Day

Today in class we took a test. The multiple choice part of the test and the short answers were fairly easy. I think I did good on that part. I did not do so good on the essay part. With a little more of study on Globalization I think I would've been fine. I feel like I did fairly decent on this test.

    Friday, September 12, 2014

    Globalization

Today in class we talked about Globalization, the world we live in, and internet usage. We talked about Japan and how they aadont get in their cars to go two blocks, and they were much healthier then us. Now Japan brought over McDonald's, KFC, and pizza hut. Now Japanese have a smaller life expectancy. We also talked about Globalization and Americanization. Also the expansion of international, cultural, economic, political activities.

    Did You Know

Today we watched a video on intersecting facts that I had never heard of before. One fact is China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world that's how big of a population they have. Another fact is the top 10 in-demand jobs did not exist in 2004, Teachers are teaching students and preparing them for jobs that do not yet exist. 1 out of 8 couples married in the US last year met online, this prove that technology can do a lot. My initial reaction to this video was I was shocked after seeing these facts. Technology plays an important role in my life. I wonder what I would be like with no technology.

    Seat change

Today right when we entered class we had our seats changed. But that wouldn't last too long. People complained about where they were sitting since they went near their friends. I was fine with where I was sitting. We finally came to a conclusion that we would vote for if we wanted to change or if we wanted to stay. Most people voted to change but a few did vote to stay. Majority voted to change o we changed seats and I am back to where I was sitting since the beginning of school.

    Todays class

Today in class my blog was done and ready. I sat patiently waiting as everyone else was getting their blog setup. During class we got to talk for the most part. I talked just to the people who sat around me so I wouldn't disturb the people who were getting their blogs setup. I enjoyed this class period as I got to relax for this mod. I also got to finish homework that I had for another class. I also got learn more about blogger. I got to learn how to visit other peoples blogs. Todays class gave me time to do other stuff that I needed to get done.

    First day

On the first day of school at John Carroll I was nervous but excited. I was excited to get to start at a new school. But I was nervous because it was a new start and I dint know where the places were that I needed to go. Once I arrived I felt that it wasn’t going to be as bad as I thought. The best part of the day was when I walked into TV Production and I sat down on a couch. The worst part was waking up early since I wasn’t used to it. The best class was TV Production because all we did was talk about movies the whole class. I was always nervous that I was going to be late to a class, but I never was. Advisory is what I liked the most since you don’t have to do anything you can just sit back and relax.
