push and pull forces

Today in class we talked about net migration a little bit, we also talked about push and pull forces that would either push someone to leave a country or pull someone into the country. The last thing we got to talk was Fertility Rate. Here are some of my notes:
  Push forces

• Civil war
• environmental degradation
• unemployment
• religious persecution

Pull forces

• Better economic opportunity
• better health services
• religious freedom 
• political freedom

TFR: average number of children born per woman 

for a population to remain the same, the TFR rate must be 2.1

higher than 2.1: population rises

lower than 2.1: population falls
